Eric Gagnon joined CICS as Assistant Secretary and Chief Financial Officer in April 2024. He has over 18 years of experience as a federal public servant.
Eric began his career in the private sector, working on financial systems implementation for governments, before joining the federal public service in 2005. More recently, he held the position of Director of Special Financial Initiatives and Financial Management Advisory Services at Global Affairs Canada (GAC). As part of his mandate, he worked on a special project to ensure GAC’s long-term financial sustainability, and he led a team of close to 100 staff providing strategic and operational financial management advice and support to the organization, particularly in a context of fiscal restraints.
Before this assignment, he worked in distinct managerial and executive roles for a period of over 10 years directing financial operations and administration, including procurement policy and process oversight, most notably with Passport Canada, Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada, Infrastructure Canada, and as part of the transition team setting up Invest in Canada.
Eric brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and experience in finance and corporate services, as well as his dedication to collaboration and excellence in client service.
Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, with specialization in accounting and international management, from the University of Ottawa. He has also completed the CPA Canada’s Senior Executive Advanced Finance and Accounting Program (SEAFAP).
