26th Annual Conference of the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers

RESOLUTION – A RESOLUTION OF THE CONFERENCE OF NEW ENGLAND GOVERNORS & EASTERN CANADIAN PREMIERS HONORING ARGEO PAUL CELLUCCI

WHEREAS, since 1997, Argeo Paul Cellucci ably represented the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as Governor at meetings of the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers; and

WHEREAS, Governor Cellucci demonstrated outstanding leadership within this Conference on such issues as transportation, fiscal policy, energy trade, and environmental and air quality, with work that focused on improving the economy and quality of life for the states and provinces of New England and Eastern Canada; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Conference Governor Cellucci displayed the highest qualities of vision, cooperation, and "good neighborliness"; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his leadership abilities and his experience in cross-border issues, Governor Cellucci was named Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentionary of the United States to Canada earlier this year by President George W. Bush;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers extends to Argeo Paul Cellucci its warmest congratulations on his well-deserved appointment and wishes him continued success as he represents the United States in its relations with Canada; and.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers thanks Ambassador Cellucci for his dedication to this Conference over the years and for his substantial work in strengthening the shared economic, environmental, cultural and governmental ties that exist between the New England states and Eastern Canadian provinces.
