29th Annual Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers

             WHEREAS, Bill Gildea served as Executive Director of the New England Governors’ Conference, Inc. for over twenty years and Co-Secretary of the NEG/ECP; and

           WHEREAS, Bill Gildea was a pioneering figure in New England-Eastern Canadian relations and brought great insight and leadership to strengthening this relationship; and

           WHEREAS, Bill Gildea, passed away on April 8, 2005 at age 83; and

           WHEREAS, the 29^th Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers wishes to acknowledge the dedicated service of Bill Gildea and pay tribute to his memory.

           NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT at this the first meeting of the Conference following the passing of Bill Gildea, the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers recognizes the outstanding contribution of Bill Gildea in fostering a strong relationship between New England states and Eastern Canadian provinces and honours his life and long standing service; and

           BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers formally voice their deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of Bill Gildea.
