29th Annual Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers

RESOLUTION – RESOLUTION ON HURRICANE KATRINA

           WHEREAS, the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers take note that during their 29th Conference in St. John’s Hurricane Katrina has come ashore on the Gulf Coast; and

           WHEREAS, Hurricane Katrina is forecast to bring with it winds of 135 miles per hour and a storm surge of between 15 and 25 feet, which will lead to significant damage;

           NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers, expresses its deep concern and heartfelt prayers for the safety of the people of the States of Florida, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi; and

           BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Conference expresses its heartfelt hope that loss of life and injury and damage to property will not be great; and

           BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Conference stands ready to assist the necessary relief and recovery efforts wherever possible.
